Heh heh heh......mind you in all my ignorance, I actually didn't know when they were built....but if the scenes were of New York, and the Towers weren't blown up it would have been hard to explain away as they were prominant features...

Found out the ratings for the episode from Phantom at knowfirst and unfortunately Daleks In Manhattan got beaten by the debut of The Dame Edna Treatment on 9. In Sydney it beat Daleks In Manhattan 983000 to 839000. The Dame Edna Treatment came in at 6th place for the July 21 viewing to 10th place for Daleks In Manhattan.

Curse those promotions for The Dame Edna Treatment.

I actually only seen one ad for it but I must been thinking about the good reviews for The Dame Edna Treatment which I noticed beforehand including Robin Oliver from SMH Guide who gave it the SHOW OF THE WEEK and Oliver is someone who usually has positive things to say about Doctor Who.

Perhaps it would been accurate for me to have said "Curse those good reviews of The Dame Edna Treatment."

The thing I didn't understand was why there were 4 Daleks. In Doomsday it only showed Sec using the "Emergency Temporal Shift", so I guess the others must have used it too. They should have made it more clear.

Also, the Time War made it so the Time Lords never existed, so was it the same with the Daleks? Coz if it wasn't, that could mean that the Doctor could encounter some pre-Time War Daleks at some point, and he could never fully defeat them...

Good but not great. The Daleks just don't seem as scary as they used to be. I hope things come together nicely in the second part. I also found it a bit odd that Tallulah didn't recognize Laslos voice in the Sewer.
I'm beginning to think that The Doctor might be starting to regret inviting Martha along. Why? Because she is always getting kidnapped. Or at least she has been lately.

Everyone keeps saying that there was no mention of Rose, but remember the Doctor did say that when he loses everything they always survive, so that's something.

well we know she's not "dead" but she's not part of the Whoinverse anymore.....I mean in other regenerations the Doc never pined for his conpanions...male or female and he, like most fans carries on....just ask Billie Smile

Overall, a good episode.

Thankfully it kept away from much of the immature sexual innuendo of recent years. There was the relationship between the show girl and the mutant, but at least that was not overdone and it did not get in the way of the main plot.

Mind you, I do wonder why they can recreate New York from the 1930's so effectively - and yet RTD dimisses the idea of doing too many alien planet stories because of their lack of creativity in such matters. Sounds like nonsense to me.

Shame about the truly unimaginative title...

I enjoy the title, mainly because it really throws up the B-Movie aspect of the entire production - you know, sweeping shots of New York, Frankenstein and all that. B-Movies may not have artistic integrity, but they have their charm, so I loved the title.
